Which color tone suits you best?
The purpose of this fun exercise is to help you discover the best color that perfectly complements your unique features, enhancing your natural beauty and radiance. You will be able to do your self color analysis. Let's explore different shades together to find the one that will make your face glow with confidence and elegance.
It is crucial to conduct this activity in natural light to guarantee precise and reliable outcomes.
Most people categorize themselves into three skin undertone types:
• Cool Tones – Cooler tones are defined by bluish or pink tints in the skin.
• Warm Tones – Warmer undertones are usually peach, yellow or golden in color.
• Neutral Tones – If your skin is neutral, your undertones are similar to your natural skin tones, with a combination of warm and cool tones.
If you have an olive complexion, you may have any of the above colors beneath the surface of your skin with the addition of green, gray, or yellowish tints characteristic of this skin type.
It is important to distinguish these undertones from your natural skin color, which has no correlation with your skin tone. For example, pale skin does not necessarily mean cool undertones. Pale skin can have warmer skin tones, while medium and dark skin can have cooler undertones, and vice versa.
Why is this important? Your undertone will determine the color that suits you best, for your clothes, your jewelry, your makeup and your hair color. Use the following methods to find yours…
1. Examine your veins:
One of the quickest and easiest ways to determine your skin tone is to look at your veins. Purple and blue veins indicate a cool undertone, while green veins indicate a warm undertone. Do you see both? You are probably neutral.
People with pale skin or more pronounced veins will find the vein test easier. If you have difficulty or are still unsure, you can try a combination of methods to determine your undertone.
2. The paper test:
All you need for the paper test is a mirror and a piece of white paper. Look in the mirror and hold the white piece of paper to your face (or wrap a white sheet around your shoulders).
• If you see a hint of yellow or orange in your skin against the paper, you have warm undertones.
• If your skin looks bluish, red, or pink, you have cool undertones.
• If you are somewhere in the middle, you have a neutral undertone.
3. The window test:
Stand near a window with a mirror and look into your eyes. Is the skin under your eyes yellow-green (indicating a warm tone) or more purple with blue undertones (indicating a cool tone)?
4.Try on jewelry:
Trying on gold and silver jewelry can be a good way to determine your skin tone. Generally, people with cool undertones will wear silver jewelry better, while those with warm undertones will be complimented by gold jewelry. Both suit you well? You probably have a neutral undertone – you're lucky!
Not wearing the right color tone can make you appear pale and can create darker shadows on your face. At times, we may end up using excessive makeup to compensate for this and regain our radiance. Yet, it is when we discover the perfect color tone that complements our unique essence that we truly illuminate from within, effortlessly reclaiming our glow.
5. Finally, do you tan easily?
If you come back from a sunny vacation with a tan, you probably have a warm complexion. Those whose skin burns easily or turns pink in the sun have cool tones. If you can tan but notice pink tones in your skin, you probably have a neutral skin tone.
