Why Hiring a Personal Stylist?
Have you ever felt you needed some help to embrace your true style according to who you are?
Have you every felt lost or overwhelmed when trying to figure out what to wear?
Would you like to learn how dressing up can become a natural process?
Here is my own little story and how I discovered I could really help around me.
A few years back, I remember talking to my brother, who was not really a fashionista at the time, and who was truly struggling into looking for a “decent” outfit for some occasions. It seemed to be a headache and a struggle for him where as for me it was natural, easy, joyful and so much fun.
Every time I would go shopping or even looking into my own wardrobe, it would be a time of happiness and self-care. I would enjoy discovering new things and outfits that would make me feel good, empowering and that would bring me self confident/comfort with a little wahoo effect, like a cherry on the cake. In addition to all of that, my curiosity in checking what is happening in the fashion industry is like a calling. I am, however, very reserved sometimes as, in my opinion, they can go a little overboard with fashion trends. So I guess it is all about balancing and adapting to who you truly are.
So let’s get back to my story. With my experience and passion for fashion, I decided to help my brother. I could really understand that something that looked natural for me seemed to be a struggle for him. We were in different area, I was more into fashion, style, luxury and sport/yoga. He was more into tech, computer science, business oriented and lost into Warcraft or any videos games that would bring him pleasure during his free time. We were really at the opposite worlds from each other.
At the beginning, I remember he would be a little resistant with my support into discovering his style. He would not fully understand the purpose of it and why he would “need it”. This seemed to be all superficial for him. I don’t blame him as I fully understand where he is coming from. This world can be a little overwhelming and superficial.
However, with time and his kindness of letting me into his world, he started to like the process. He could see that he was actually presenting better and as a result “feeling more into his own shoes”. He discovered that the path was actually fun. The image projected by the way he would dressed would influence the way he would act and as a result what/who he would attract in his life.
It was more than just his perception of the superficiality of the outfit. He understood that embracing his own style helped in his daily life. It was a self-discovery journey. It would allow him to embrace who he was naturally. Now, by himself, he knows how to choose the perfect outfit according to who he is, how he feels and the occasion he needs to go to.
Seeing the change in my brother and how he would feel very relaxed when choosing the outfit and being himself in his clothes, I decided to start helping people who were close to me. I could see how I would make it easier for my mum to choose the right size of clothes for her, advising in the right color or shape for my friends according to their body shape or skin color. I did not even know at the time that stylist could be a calling.
I can humbly say that I must be gifted with a special eye and taste that help me understand who people are. Those gifts help me discover my clients and allow me to match perfectly what would fit them exactly according to their authentic self.
At the end of the day, the most important for me is for my brother, my mother, friends and clients to feel like themself in their new embraced style!
